A Venture Out in Cudjoe Key

We drove four and half hours south to Mile Marker 23 in the Florida Keys. The boat was loaded, the sun was shining, and it was about to be my 25th birthday! We made a quick right turn off US 1 highway onto Spanish Main Drive at Cudjoe Key. This whole trip was a surprise from Billy, my boyfriend. I had little to no info on where and what was on our agenda for this birthday getaway. I thought we were staying on Key West? Wait, what, why are we turning into the community, Venture Out? I just let it ride. My excitement built up as we were greeted with directions to our oceanfront rental. We pulled up to this two story cottage and inside I was surprised by both my parents, a tapa dinner, and an ice cold Gin & Soda. Billy got me good, he got me real good.

Cudjoe Key is known for its waterfront docks on the Kemp Channel, which take you out to some phenomenal diving and fishing. We ran 5 miles off shore to the Looe Key Marine Sanctuary. The protected reef was full of life and shallow water snorkel for all types of divers. We trolled for Sails and Dolphin as the frigates circled above us.

Turning north out of the Kemp Channel took us under the US1 bridge and into the back country for some tarpon fishing and island hopping.

May 12, 2017 was one of those days you'll never forget. We soaked up every ounce of sunshine and it wouldn't have been possible without our Sol Addict Activewear. Can't wait to get back down to the Florida keys soon.

Creating Habitat

Your sacred space is where you can keep finding yourself over and over again. Where is this place and what do plan to do with it?  We find it in the ocean and quite frankly were sea sick about it.  Florida coasts are home to the only shallow reefs located in the United States.  The Florida Reef Tract is 150 miles long by 4 miles wide. It is the third largest barrier reef system in the world. Due to pollution and population, we have seen significant deconstruction of our beautiful eco systems. "Earth is not a platform for human life. It's a living being. We're not on it, but part of it. Its health is our health"- Thomas Moore.

Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management is creating habitat where it has been lost. Building additional reef formations from limestone, concrete, and decommissioned ships for snorkeling, diving, and fishing. Our very own, Jack Bates Photography, has teamed up with PBCERM to document these functioning reef formations located of our home.

3 Reasons to go on a Destination Bachelorette

When planning your Bachelorette party, think outside the box. We're seeing all these extravagant parties in Vegas and NOLA with hot swimsuits & costumes. I mean, it's the last shabang before your best friend gets married, so you might as well do it big. But we're encouraging you to re-think those destinations. How about an island nestled in the tropics? Take it from our Bride, Julianne, it was MERMAZING!

3 Reasons to have a Destination Bachelorette in a remote place:

No Cell Service:

Our iPhones were no where to be fond. We had genuine conversation and laughed. Sharing stories about our bride. We left our husbands, kids, and 9-5's at home and seriously got to CHILL OUT. We all formed sincere relationships with one another. Since returning, we've all gotten closer which makes it so exciting for the big Wedding Day.

Packing Made Easy:

Floating drink cups

Customized Sol Addict Sun Shirts

Beach Towels

Outdoor Adventures:

We rode boats by day and golf carts by night. Encountering pigs, turtles, and sting rays. We swam with with wild dolphins in the bay. Followed by dancing the night away barefoot under the full moon and stars while sipping on champagne.

A truly unforgettable Bachelorette Party!
